Hi, I’m Derek Means.
I’ve been living in Fairport for just under two years, and in that short time, I’ve completely fallen in love with everything this village has to offer. From the vibrant community spirit during events like Canal Days to the small-town charm of local favorites like TK’s Pizza, Fairport has quickly become home. It’s a place where my wife and I are proud to raise our six children (and two dogs!), and where we truly feel a sense of belonging.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me exploring the outdoors with my kids — whether it’s hiking through the woods or visiting favorite spots like Hemlock Lake and the Herkimer Diamond Mines. Growing up in Livingston County, I’ve always felt more at ease in rural, close-knit communities, and Fairport fits that vision perfectly.
My professional path has been shaped by my upbringing. My mother was a single parent and small business owner, and watching her work tirelessly while building personal, trusted relationships with her clients left a lasting impression on me. That foundation helped guide my success in the corporate world and ultimately led me to focus on building something of my own — rooted in service, community, and genuine connection.
